  Residential Courses for OU Students of French

Boost your confidence, prepare for your course assessment, and learn more of the language as it is spoken by attending an intensive immersion French course in France, run by an experienced bi-lingual teacher with many years hands-on experience.

You will be in small groups of 2 - 4 students, with plenty of opportunity for individual support and personalised tuition. Teaching will use a variety of ways to help you to improve and increase your oral and written skills focussing on your course learning needs. The emphasis will be on active student involvement. Learn a recipe or take a botanical walk in French in non lesson time, for example. As much French as possible will be spoken throughout the day, including at meals.

At this stage in your learning you need to build confidence, so I am offering a choice of dates, either near the beginning of the course or part way through it. The course material will practise what you have been learning through role-playing and fun activities. The emphasis will be on willingness to try new vocabulary and different ways of saying things. With your tutor you will discover ways of improving your memory for French ways of saying things and speaking with greater accuracy and confidence.

Your French is already at an intermediate standard and you are working towards a qualification. Although it is not specifically aimed at exam preparation, this course will aim to improve your standard of spoken and written French at that critical half way mark, through the use of guided role-playing. Materials will cover real world situations and active student participation will help you to learn and remember.

Your commitment to French is proven; you have now reached an advanced level. I am offering a course early to give you a head start or just before the end for your exam. Together we will practise subjects for your written and oral exam, using debate and summarising skills and I will give you tips for how to approach both exams. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave everything will be in French!

Tuition will be from Thursday 9.30am through to Sunday noon.
I will available at all times and look forward to helping you.
This is a fabulous area, breathtaking scenery and an authentic way of life.
There will be an opportunity to visit the famed Cité and the colourful market, which will be the venue for one of our learning activities.

Location

You will stay in the gîte that is part of our house – Le vieux Chai, a converted wine cellar in a village at the head of a beautiful valley some 20kms from Carcassonne. Meals, local recipes, plentiful and delicious and one evening meal in a restaurant will be taken together. House facilities including French television and the lovely garden will be available to you..

Prices are based on single occupancy of each room.

Prices include tuition, board, all meals, restaurant and refreshments.
Also included is the visit to Carcassonne centre and all the teaching handouts.

I can accept either sterling cheques or paypal payments.
To reserve your place on a course please email your choice to info@colettescourses.com so that I can let you know if that course still has availability. You will then receive a registration form with full payment details. Please note that payments are 100% non refundable, unless I can sell your place. Your place will be confirmed once I have received your payment. I will then send you a detailed programme for the residential course.

Travel

Please note that course schedules deliberately allow for midweek arrivals to take advantage of lower fares. Departures may also be deferred by arrangement if you wish to stay longer.. Nearest airport is Carcassonne served daily by Ryanair from Stansted. But there are several airports close by, eg Toulouse, Perpignan and Beziers departing from other UK airports. We can provide transfers from Carcassonne airport or rail station and can help you with information for other transfers.
